HAPPY Fit Foodie Friday #4

Welcome to Fit Foodie Friday! During this series, I will share my trials in eating clean and staying active during the week. You may even find a health goal pop up from time to time. Feel free to join in on the fun!

Fit Foodie Friday

It’s Friday! I am so HAPPY! It’s been a long week, so I’m looking forward to an active weekend. The thing I love most about getting outside and doing something active is that you forget about all the worries of the world. Whether I am swimming, biking, or running, it puts my mind at peace and I always feel HAPPY after the endorphin high. I love a little zone-out time to get my heart rate pumping.

Food

I am very HAPPY to inform you that I got my coffee addiction under control. It’s no longer an afternoon requirement. Instead, lately I have really been loving homemade deli salads.
imageI combine baby kale, spinach, and chard with cucumber, bell pepper, onion, deli meat, and sometimes hard boiled egg. I top it off with a mustard dressing which I made by mixing spicy mustard and water together. It’s really the simplest recipe out there, yet soooo delicious!

Fitness

Hopefully you still HAPPY to read about my triathlon training. It seems like my life revolves around triathlon at this point and it’s only going to get worst!

My training schedule still looks there same with a few minor changes:

Monday – AM Swim + PM Recovery Run/Strength
imageTuesday – Track Intervals

imageWednesday – AM Swim + PM Brick Training
image(California Triathlon is big on the power of the unicorn. An adult male wore these socks to Brick on Wednesday!)

Thursday – Tempo Run

Friday – AM Swim or Strength/Run
imageSaturday – Long Ride + Run (10% of the ride distance)

Sunday – Rest Day

That’s all for now folks! Have a HAPPY weekend!

Fit Foodie Friday #3

Fit Foodie Friday

Happy Good Friday my friends! You know it’s been a crazy couple of weeks when you see bunny cupcakes on the receptionist’s desk and say “Oh, Easter is this weekend!”  I’m not going to sugar coat things… I have over a thousand blog posts to read on Bloglovin, my house is a mess, and my dogs miss their walks…

Food

Three weeks ago I started working on two new projects at work. It’s been a little busy. I’m not proud to admit it but I have a new daily ritual. Like clock work, I get a Starbucks venti ice coffee with non-fat milk and two pumps of sweetener at 3 p.m.
image

Let me put this in perspective… I don’t drink coffee unless there’s an early run involved. It’s a bad new addiction, but it’s getting me through this crazy work time and double workouts…

Fitness

Double workouts are the name of the game at this point. I have been swimming in the am and run/cycling in the pm.

Here is a look at my workouts for the last two weeks:

Monday – AM Swim + PM Recovery Run/Strength

Wednesday – AM Swim + PM Brick Training

Thursday – Tempo Run

Friday – AM Swim or Strength

Saturday – Long Run or Ride or Both

Sunday – Rest Day

My next triathlon is in a week! I hope to be prepared for the ocean swim with all the training I’ve been up to lately.

Happy Friday everyone! While you are reading this, I am running the Socal Ragnar Relay with 12 amazing runners/bloggers! Last night I met all the girls… each and every one of them are fabulous! I am so excited to be running with this group. More on the weekend adventures next week.
imageIsn’t our team name fierce!?

Food

I have gotten my eats under control for the most part. It’s still hard to eliminate all the sweets. I think that’s my biggest problem. I LOVE chocolate!!!

Fitness

My fitness level was low this week. I only ran 9 miles total! Eeeek! Plus I skipped my track and brick workout.
imageOh well, next week I am kicking off triathlon training in full force. As you know, I have the Huntington Beach Triathlon at the end of this month, so I really need to get into fighting shape.

Fit Foodie Friday #1

Welcome to Friday my friends! It has been a loooong week for me so I’m looking forward to an active weekend. I have some fun posts coming at ya next week!

Fit Foodie FridayIt’s no secret that I was second guessing the Target Practice Friday posts because quite frankly, I don’t have many short term goals left. Naturally, I set out to do a little research, aka read other blogs, and I came across Brittany’s Friday’s Food and Fitness series. Ever since she started the series, I have really enjoyed reading about her adventures in food and fitness, but I wanted to leave the option open to post on “Target Practice” goals in the future. Thus, Fit Foodie Friday was born.

During this new series, that I’m calling Fit Foodie Friday, I will discuss any current fitness activities or goals and my food for the week. Basically it’s combining the best of Friday’s Food and Fitness and Target Practice Friday. Hopefully everyone’s happy!

Food

I have a serious problem! Ever since the marathon, my stomach has grown so much. It has been difficult to get my eating habits under control.
imageThese bars  from Body Feed are so delicious that I’ve been eating way too many of them!

While I am eating healthy food most of the time, I’m eating waaaay too much of it. Not to mention the doughnuts, pizza, and brownies I ate this week. Next week, I may need to meal plan to get my frequent eating under control.

Fitness

Whoa! Training is back in full swing! I am currently training for the Ragnar Relay and HB Triathlon so it’s been a juggling act between running, biking, and swimming. I’ve been squeezing in workouts wherever I can…
imageThat means incorporating open water swims after hanging out with friends on the weekend. I’ve also been training with a new group, but more on that next week! :-)

Tootles! Have an active weekend!
